Karaitiana Akroyd

Karaitiana Akroyd is a young Māori man, born in New Plymouth, and raised on both the East and West Coasts of NZ.
Having supported Youth, Young Adults, and Families in Domestic Violence situations, he sought an outlet for the pressure – thus Mārika Pounamu was born. Carving became a medium of creativity, self-care, and gift-giving.
Karaitiana is also pursuing a Masters Degree in Psychology, and plans to one day help others with carving, the same way it has helped him.
